The Kowanyama Family Fun Day saw all of the community come together and bring joy to the faces of the children.
Team member Shiquea Creek organised the Family Fun Day to uplift the community and bring families together after a collective hard time in the community.
With many tragedies and months of Sorry Business, local families have been affected mentally, emotionally and culturally.
The day was not only about having some fun but also to encourage community pride and bonding.
Some of the activities our Kowanyama team ran included:
- An egg and spoon race
- A sack bag race
- Face painting
- Water park fun
- A BBQ for the kids
- Job appointments with our Business Manager Cameron
Indigenous Hip Hop also attended to teach dance in the community hall and helped us with the face painting.
All the race winners got a pack of RISE Ventures goodies like drink bottles, bucket hats and bags.
The feedback our team received was incredible!
Everyone in community said that the Family Fun Day was excellent, especially after everything they’ve been through. They loved that it brought everyone together and want it to be an annual event!
RISE Ventures would like to congratulate our Kowanyama team for pulling off such a successful event and in particular, Shiquea who was the driving force behind the day.
