Certificate I in Construction

November 23, 2021

Wow what a month it’s been, we have very successfully run a Certificate I in Construction in conjunction with the training company Jenagar. It was such a pleasure to welcome them into our community.

All the participants in the Certificate I in Construction

Their teaching method is one that every community should welcome, the technology in the classroom was very welcome indeed as well as with Jenagar’s turning point programme to assist with theory. The participants use a handheld remote to answer the questions and with the assistance of an easy read pen and language assistant they have all passed with flying colours.

We had ten participants complete this course with an extra incentive from the training company Jenegar, who supplied $250 fishing rods, reels, and a tackle box for attendance every day. Out of the ten we had four receive this gift from Jenegar, with every participant receiving a multi-tool, water bottle and cap very kindly donated by Jenagar as well.
The other six only just missed the prize but spent there time wisely by catching up on lost time.

Rise assisted with gaining the ID’s required, daily transport to and from the course and lunches daily.
We are very pleased with the results achieved, the young contingent of participants once practical commenced we found it hard to get them out of the shed daily, in fact it was a task in itself.

All participants completed a coffee table for home as well as completing a bench seat that the everyone donated to Rise for the shed, complete with cushions.

It was such a pleasure to see the boys along with their family members attend the graduation and lunch we provided on Friday 12th November.

We would like to sincerely thank Garth, Kylie, and Lance from Jenager for the unwavering support in delivering this course and can’t wait to welcome them back into our community to present future training.

By holding this training, we are assisting these young men address their barriers to employment and we are very pleased to say that one participant has gained employment with a new contractor in town. A huge thank you to Toby from CHC for giving a young participant an opportunity and a further participant is waiting for his blue card to commence with HAAC.

This group of young men was an absolute pleasure to work with and we look forward to the next round of training.
