2025 has started with a bang in Katherine!
We’ve welcomed new team members in both the Kybrook and Katherine offices, celebrated clients achieving their licenses and created some incredible employment outcomes.
We are proud to share that in January alone, our clients have been employed at Katherine High School, JJ’s Cleaning Services, Corroboree Hostel and the Gulin Gulin Community Store in Bulman!
Our job coaches supported these clients to prepare their resumes and job applications, match them to a job that aligns with their skills and nail their interviews!
We are now providing post-placement support and mentoring to ensure they settle into their new roles and have everything they need to succeed.
Welcome To Team RISE!
Trialling Pathways to Real Jobs (TPRJ) is a NIAA initiative within the Community Development Program which allows us to hire clients as casual employees so they can build their skills, create a committed routine, and get ready for external employment.
In January and February, we have welcomed 10 new TPRJ employees to our teams in Katherine and Kybrook!
Payton is a young lady with a bright future ahead.
She’s been hired in our Katherine office and is learning the ropes by shadowing Eva, our Outreach Service Coordinator.
We’re excited to have Payton on board and watch her flourish in the role.
Our newest team members at Kybrook Farm have already got stuck into projects around their community.
We warmly welcomed Paul, Jethro, Kelvin and Lacrisa into the team and after we helped them to settle in, onboarded 6 more locals into community roles!
We are grateful that the TPRJ funding to allows us to hire local people, give them the opporunity to contribute to their community and provide a launching pad into employment.
Licenses Open Up Employment Opportunities
Have a license is a near essential requirement for finding employment in remote communities.
Not only do many roles require a license, our clients also often must drive to get to their place of work.
In the past 6-months, RISE Katherine has partnered with Joshua Blake at Drive Blue to provide driving lessons and license testing to our clients.
It’s been a roaring success, with many celebrations in the office when people proudly return with their license!
After many false starts and barriers to overcome, client Ian didn’t give up. With Joshua’s support, he passed his Learners and was stoked!
He was so keen to start driving that he immediately booked in manual lessons with Joshua the following week.
Another happy client was Jonathan who, supported by Joshua, passed his P plates with flying colours!
He’s excited to drive independently and open up the job opportunities now available to him.
We also have three new truck drivers in Katherine!
Congratulations to Jeffery, Mark and Raymond who passed their HR Truck Licence tests!
We’re super proud of the guys and will support them to find jobs that utilise their new qualification.
