About Remote Australia Employment Service (RAES)

On 1 November, RAES will replace the Community Development Program (CDP).

The RAES will provide opportunities for job seekers who live and work across more than 2,600 communities in remote Australia and support around 40,000 job seekers to build their skills and address barriers to employment.

The new program, which has been designed in consultation with communities, will bring a new approach to supporting job seekers, employers and communities across remote Australia.

The program will focus on:

  • Employment pathways – helping people in remote areas prepare for, secure and sustain meaningful work.
  • Skills development – offering training and activities that build work readiness, confidence and capability.
  • Community projects – creating opportunities for participants to contribute to initiatives that deliver lasting community benefits.
  • Employer partnerships – working closely with local employers to connect them with job-ready talent.

The appointment to deliver the Remote Australia Employment Service is from 1 November 2025 to 30 June 2028.
