It’s hot in Katherine this time of year, but for a group of participants in a Community Development Programme (CDP), labouring in the heat has been extremely worthwhile, leading them to paid full-time hours with the potential for more full-time work with other projects.
Rise Community Development Programs (CDP) provide participants with job skills and other training on real projects that will provide practical experience and lead to sustainable employment outcomes in the future.
Rise Activity Manager NT & Qld Robert Howard said: “It has been exciting to see these participants grow in knowledge, confidence and capability. They had paid work for projects such as Katherine Courthouse upgrade, Katherine Speedway fencing upgrade, Katherine Ambulance station and the Robinson River Health Clinic.”
Mr Howard added: “During these projects they gained practical skills in the building process as well as skills in the fabrication, blast and paint areas.”
Mr Howard went on to say: “Crowhurst Engineering has been accepted to tender for the Lend Lease Structural Steel – Minor package at Tindal RAAF Base. A successful tender will enable fulltime employment of these participants.”
