The results of the hard work and dedication of our participants with our hydroponics project on Croker Island are beginning to bear fruit ( pun intended ).
Seedlings have been moved from the hothouse to the freshly laid garden beds to begin growing fresh produce. We have lettuce, tomatoes, bok choy, pumpkin, rockmelons and watermelons currently growing.
This will provide badly needed fresh fruit and vegetables to the local community. Our ultimate aim is for this to become a sustainable business enterprise through the sale of produce to the ALPA Store in Minjilang.
Healthy living combined with a new source of income will be a great outcome for the community.
