The Kowrowa Indigenous Community is located approximately 15km from Kuranda in Far North Queensland.
The Kowrowa Pride is a furniture-making activity that has seen the completion and readying for sale of many products over the past few years.
Cabinet Making is a major and very popular activity within Kowrowa. Our job seekers gain experience in a range of skills associated with furniture making, including the planning and designing of items, timber selection and preparation, construction techniques and wood finishing.
Putting their skills into action, they plan and construct items of their own choice, and complete projects at their own pace. Job seeker skills are developed further as experience is gained while working on various projects. Importantly, all information and knowledge is shared between workers and job seekers, strengthening the bonds in the local community.
