On the 1st of July 2016 Jobfind and the community of Gunbalanya celebrated Northern Territory Day in style.
The staff circulated through the community stakeholders, in particular the West Arnhem Shire Council, Women’s Safe House, Health Clinic and the local Police. Conversations with these stakeholders were vibrant and rewarding, as the feedback offered was positive and exciting for Jobfind in the community.
Jobfind staff and participants then went onto engage in a mixed soft ball event, which proved to be a perfect networking tool.
While the staff were socialising, the Creative Arts Activity participants set up the “Pop up Shop”. The ladies led by Alison the supervisor, sold the second hand clothing they have acquired, Candles, Jewellery, Bags, Pillows, Shoes and Sewing.
The Community Development Participants also engaged in the setting up of other community stalls and were involved in the local band and the hip hop dancers, which provided the entertainment late into the night.
Over the course of the afternoon, into the evening, Jobfind merchandise was given away to the local community. Jobfind hats, water bottles, balloons and other material were spread out around the community for all to see. The promotional products were a hit with the children and other stakeholders.
The night ended listening to live music, watching the hip hop dancers, while a large display of Fireworks were set off into the clear sky above.
